This two day course is directed at the entire shoulder girdle, including the glenohumeral joint, AC and SC joints, 1st rib and thoracic spine. Evaluation of all the areas will be taught including the joints and the soft tissues. Emphasis will be placed on diagnosis of instability, impingement, adhesive capsulitis and tendonitis. Pathology and anatomy will be reviewed. Treatment will include joint mobilizations, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, deep friction massage and taping. You'll be prepared to work with the obstetric population through an introduction to maternal physiology, obstectric tests, and the birthing process. There will be descriptions of musculoskeletal changes of pregnancy and a discussion of the modifications in evaluation and treatment procedures for the pregnant client. There will be extensive labs on muscle energy techniques and exercise for release of joint and soft tissue restrictions specific to the needs of the pregnant client.
